Hi, Gary Hart here,
President South Australian Amputee Golf,
Hello all of you good people,
Yes, it has come to the time of the month when we have our newsletter. Quite a bit has been going on since my last posting.
Firstly let’s get it out of the way, as you know there has been a Queensland Amputee Open and again I was fortunate to have won the A/K section. The Open was played in torrential conditions. It absolutely poured down for two days then we thankfully had sunshine on the third and final day – I was lucky I didn’t rust. Congratulations have to go out to the competitors for staying out there. It just shows the spirit of the Amputees – when the going gets tough the Amps dig in and get going. Congratulations to Ray Piper, the new QLD Amputee Open Champion.
Talking of champions, this brings me to our very own South Austral ian Champs. Let me say how well the First Swing Clinics are going and what a vast improvement I’m seeing in you all. I find your efforts very rewarding and encouraging and to keep you all progressing there is going to be a third clinic in the month at Adelaide Shores Golf Park which will include getting you out on the golf course.
Due to the extra planning that this third clinic will involve, I will need each person to register for all clinics as soon as possible with me or the respective Pro Shop at Adelaide Shores or Grange. If you then find you are unable to attend please ring or email me by 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the clinic so that other people can be slotted into your place. If I haven’t heard from anyone by this cut off I will assume you will attend. Details of future clinics will be posted on the website as soon as possible so please check the calendar on the home page on a regular basis.
Now then, if you have been visiting the News Flash section, you will note that there have been a few new additions. I refer to the Comfort Inn, with a further discount to the accommodation fees – a big thankyou to Cassandra and Shelagh.
Also for our members, there is a getaway offer from the Courtyard Marriott, Surfers Paradise. Please take them up on their offer – thankyou Simon Black.
As you can see from our website there has been a lot of work done to it and I hope you are all enjoying it. This is due to the hard work and dedication of Pete Keepence, Webmaster. I would have thought he would be sick and tired of me now – cheers Pete.
And finally, Chris Crichton and I were invited into the Lord Mayor’s Golf Day playing against able bodied people. Chris was awarded runner up in C Grade. Well done Chris.
In closing may I remind you, swing safe, and be happy.
Until next time.
Gary Hart
