Ignite Golf to Torch Old-School Standards
30 January 2008

The internet has gripped the planet like no other technology in the past 100 years, and the virtual world many of us inhabit online is set to propel the game of golf into a whole new stratosphere. The brainchild of Australian PGA professionals Stephen Liddle, Chris Chilton and James Comerford, Ignite Golf is a world first aimed at introducing a new brand of excitement to golf through the use of virtual technology.

The first golf software program of its kind in the world and Australian built, Ignite Golf takes personal coaching to a whole new level. Licensed PGA golf professionals across Australia arrive armed with a complete work station when you receive a swing consultation at one of their affiliated venues. Consisting of a laptop, 2 digital high speed cameras and a 22 inch LCD screen, your swing is captured from behind and to the side - and all in the one swing.

To your delight or horror, a thorough video analysis is then undertaken by your professional. Using an AVI file the professional will transfer video of your swing to the internet where it can be analysed instantaneously. The Ignite Golf software has the ability to play your swing in slow motion and utilises drawing tools to diagnose and communicate errors to you. It also allows your swing to be compared to a golf professional online to highlight your strengths and weaknesses.

You just need an internet connection, username and password and you can log in anywhere to view the lesson again. It allows you to build and access a complete archive of lessons online so you can chronologically monitor and chart your improvement.

“The game of golf in this country it is not going backwards but it is not going forwards either,” explained Ignite Golf Director Stephen Liddle.

“Myself and the other pros affiliated with Ignite Golf all agree that the way to move golf forward in this country and possibly the world is to give the game more of an edge – to make it more exciting to the grassroots.

“The way to do that is through this virtual technology. Our members who use this system get a buzz out of seeing themselves swing from multiple angles and improve visually in a sophisticated format. It provides extra stimulus and gives the golfer greater ownership of their game. It really starts to diminish that mentality of just being happy to have a hack. Kids love this concept and often improve very rapidly because of it. This is a fresh pathway to breed a new generation of champions.”

For $99.95 members receive a free Ignite Golf lesson, 12 month access to view your swing on line via www.ignitegolf.com.au and a rewards card offering a host of benefits including discounts at accredited Ignite Golf venues and affiliated resorts, hotels and motels to name just a few.

Ignite Golf. The way to play.
