Hi Gary here,

Just a reminder to you good people - please go to Albums (click top or bottom), then click on the link at the bottom ('click here for music with slide show'). You'll be reminded how courageous and determined you Amputees are. Great song too, don't forget to turn your speakers up. :o)

Please also read Aidan's golf story. Aidan started First Swing Golf Clinics at the age of 12 and is now 15.

Enjoy,

Gary

AIDAN’S GOLF AWARD

Aidan’s been chosen as the 2008 recipient of the Novita Sports and Recreation award . This is Aidan’s story.

got a letter in the mail to tell me I was chosen to receive the 2008 Sports and Recreation award from Novita . I got the award for playing golf with the Amputee golf association and for playing in the tournament and having fun at golf. Mum had to ring Novita back and tell them that I wanted to accept the award . This award is given to children with disabilities who play sport and go to the clinics all the time. The more clinics you go to the more you learn and stay fit. Playing golf means I have made lots of friends (including Gazza the good looking one as Gazza always says) . I now play golf every Saturday as I go to the mainstream clinic on the alternate Saturday. I like the Amputee Clinic best as I get to go on the course. The award mum says is recognition for children with disabilities who try to excel in their chosen sport I just play golf because it’s fun and my dream when I ‘m older is to be president of the Amputee golf association so I can travel the world and Australia like Gazza and encourage other people with Disability’s to get out and “Give it a go” .The award is presented at Regency Park on the 26th of May and I will get a certificate and a cheque for $250 dollars . This is like my first prize money for playing golf that’s really cool.!!!! In 2008 at my old school St Bernadette’s I used to assist with the soccer coaching for the under 8’s . I like golf better as I can play it and not only coach.

I have to do an acceptance speech at the award presentation so I’ll write that later. Thanks to everyone at SA Amputee golf association for teaching me to play golf and for the tournament last year. Gazza and Gareth are really good coaches and lots of fun. I wanted Gazza to come to the award presentation but he’s away ,so mum says we’ll email him lots of photos . GOLF RULES.

Cheers

Aidan
