• Married to Marianne; a strong pillar for business, sport and my work for disabled golf
• A daughter (1977) working for Shell Oil Company as a company legal officer, and a son (1980) working for Intercontinental Hotel Group in China as a Food & Beverage manager

Golf Achievements

• In 1997 initiator and co-founder of the Dutch Disabled Golf Association; president 1997-2003
• In 1998 initiator for a European Disabled Golf Association; secretary of a preparatory working group
• In 2000 co-founder of the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA); today with 15 European member organisations and the South African Disabled Golf Association (SADGA); Secretary/treasurer ever since
• In 2005 brought in the support of The R & A for disabled golf in general and as sponsor for EDGA in particular
• In 2008 initiator to establish an advanced course for golf professionals to teach people with physical limitations in close co-operation with the PGAs of Europe and the Ryder Cup European Development Trust
• From mid-2008 until today I eagerly bide my time to follow the progress of International Golf Federation (IGF) to bring golf back to the Olympic Sports Programme
• In 2008 initiator to establish a platform in the Netherlands for a co-operative effort of several organisations (Dutch Golf Federation, PGA Holland and others) to support and promote disabled golf in the Netherlands; chairman of this platform from the start
• In 2009 initiator for a meeting with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) in Bonn, Germany; drew up the Declaration of Intent to prove to the IPC the determination to bring Golf to the 2016 Paralympics. Initiator for meetings with The R & A and IGF for backing of this initiative and to interest them to become the formal applicant for the application process of IPC.
• In 2010 succeeded to collect all activities under the wings of the IGF through establishing the IGF Paralympic Golf Committee, next to the IGF Olympic Golf Committee
• In 2010 co-ordinator and producer of the Bidbook for Golf in the 2016 paralympic sports programme: "Down the Fairway to Rio"

Sporting Achievements

• During the years engaged in football, speed-skating, horseman, ski, tennis and Golf (hcp. 15).
