I suffered the amputation of my left leg below the knee on the 9th January 1989 in an industrial accident. Prior to having the accident I was a keen football & basketball player as well as a keen golfer.
Mid 1991 I was made aware of a bicycle tour to raise awareness of amputees in Australia. The bicycle tour coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Amputee Association in Australia and I wanted to be part of this great event. From this event I was lucky enough to be selected for the 1992 Paralympic Games where I competed in the 65 km road race. I continued to race bicycles and in 1994 I won a silver medal at the world championships in Belgium.
In 1995 I decided to stop racing and start back playing golf; when I shifted to Sydney I met Geoff Nicholas and got involved with Geoff arranging sponsors for the event at the Lakes Golf Club in 2002. From that event we formed AGA (NSW) and have been involved in amputee golf ever since.
